This painting titled “The Fifth Element” (oil on canvas, 77 x 77″) is about the dire impact of climate change on the four elements: fire, water, earth and air and the urgency to do something about it before the catastrophic damage is irreversible. The large flower with a white circle in the center symbolizes a woman’s womb and her ability to create life. It is as important as the other elements because, without women, our society would not continue. Thus, a woman’s womb can equate to a fifth element. And, just how we need to have reverence for our environment to sustain it for generations to come, women and girls of all colors, races and sexual orientations are to be cherished and expect to have their choices and fundamental human right to gender equality respected.
